Have you ever asked your children what they want to be when they grow up?
Of course you have. I wonder what their answers are.
Last week Aleyna had a friend from school over for tea. They had a fabulous time. Aleyna’s lovely little (and completely “neurotypical”) chum announced on the journey home that she knew what she wanted to be when she grows up…..
An archaeologist in China. China no less. When asked why China she replied;
“I have always wanted to be an archaeologist, but I also want to save the endangered red pandas so I will go to China”
She is 6.
So I called my nephews in London. Their answers were interesting too…
The 5 year old replied:
“I want to be a volcanic scientist” (Considering we nickname his Dad the rocket scientist, this did not come as a surprise)
The 3 year old?
“Batman”
So we then asked Aleyna. It is a question she has never really understood before. But without hesitation her answer;
“I want to be a frog”
Now that is what I call ambition.
I would LOVE to know your children’s ambitions.

Love it. I’m going to ask mine tomorrow when they’re up and let you know. Fairly sure it’ll have nothing to do with pandas or science though… Really? Saving the world at 6??!! Think I wanted to be a hairdresser. Still do, a little bit
deniz’s answer is, ‘Ronaldinio!’ who is also his 5cm tall imaginary friend. I prefer Aleyna’s answer, though xx
Awesome post. I asked Felix (8) and said mythologist (he’s reading Percy Jackson and quizzes me on Greek deities at the moment). I asked Solomon who said he wanted to be a ‘Solomon’ because he wont have to change into anything. I like Batman myself.
